The run-up to the Legends of Poker tournament at the Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, California was full of odds at online casinos sites for the various poker players, celebrities (such as Tobey McGuire, Ben Affleck, and Jennifer Tilly) and professional card sharks (such as Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu and Gus Hansen), who were to participate in the table action from August 27 to August 31, 2005. So as not to give the impression that only one woman – a second rate actress – was participating in the Legends of Poker game play, online casinos and sports books like the aptly named Sports Book listed odds women card sharks such as Jennifer Harman, Kathy Liebert, and Annie Duke as well.

And so it was that the online casinos odds to win the Legends of Poker tournament for Affleck, Tilly, and McGuire were at 400-1 and the online casino odds for Phil Ivey, the favorite, to capture the Legends of Poker title were at 66-1. After Ivey, Daniel Negreanu had odds to capture the title listed for him at 80-1, and players like Gus Hansen, Layne Flack, Phil Hellmuth, Howard Lederer and Marcel Luske also shared the same odds as Negreanu at 80-1. |
